The residential crowd is made up of...a little bit of everyone!

The community vibe is...welcoming and upbeat! Being the second fastest growing city in the U.S. means that we have lots of transplants here eager to make new connections and start a new chapter of their lives! When you pair that with the warm, Southern hospitality our natives are known for, you get a very friendly, positive city.

The lifestyle offered is...active and full of fun. Charlotte has invested heavily in public transportation and a connected greenway system over the last 10 years, so that has resulted in really incredible new options for an active lifestyle right outside your door. Biking and running are both incredibly popular here. Our fantastic climate and mild winters means that Charlotte residents can enjoy outdoor activities almost year round––even if that’s just sitting on a patio, sipping a glass of wine.

The most popular building type you’ll find is...

The most popular building types in Charlotte’s older neighborhoods are Georgian and Colonial styles, Tudor Revival, and charming original bungalows and craftsman homes. As Charlotte has continued to grow, there have been many different types of architecture built throughout the city. We have a nice blend of a variety of styles.

The average home price is...

This varies pretty widely by neighborhood and community. Overall, the cost of living is quite low compared to other major metropolitan areas. Luxury properties are available from half a million dollars up to $10 million plus.

The area’s greatest highlight is…the feeling and electricity in the city right now and knowing what incredible things are on the horizon. Charlotte is leading the growth of the “New South.”

The area’s best driving-distance getaways are…Charleston, South Carolina, or Asheville, North Carolina. In three hours or less, you can be at the beach or in the mountains.

The best spot to dine fancy is…

It’s hard to pick just one! Charlotte has some exceptionally talented chefs, especially now that Johnson & Wales University is located here. Favorites are Barrington’s, Lumiere, The McNinch House, Bentley’s on 27, and Baku.

The best spot to find entertainment is…Uptown Charlotte. Uptown has a fantastic arts scene, where you can see a Broadway show, the ballet, and the symphony or browse one of many art galleries. We currently have several dozen theaters and museums. The EpiCenter development is a mecca for anyone who wants to see and be seen! It has high-end restaurants, clubs and world-class DJs, sports bars, a bowling alley, clothing stores, and several casual restaurants. Downtown Charlotte is also home to the Carolina Panthers NFL team, the Charlotte Hornets NBA team, the Charlotte Knights AAA baseball team, and the Charlotte Checkers hockey team.

The best spot to go shopping is…the Southpark area. It’s home to SouthPark Mall, as well as a variety of local boutiques and shops.

The best place to tee off is...

There are dozens of public and private golf courses in the area. Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Country Club is home to the Wells Fargo Championship and will host the PGA Championship in 2017. Golf lovers will be in heaven!
