I thought the only "Hemingway House" was located in Key West, Florida, where Ernest Hemingway famously wrote some of his greatest works. I guess I was wrong, because this lovely mansion, also titled the "Hemingway House." Perhaps because it resembles the one in the Florida Keys? What we do know is that the owners of this four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath are making a clean profit. According to the listing, the 1924 gated house in Laurel Canyon has been "meticulously restored" and includes a "gentlemen's room/library with full bar" that features a Cary Grant book, a screening room, massive laundry room, wine cellar, pool, spa, and a 1,000 square-foot guest quarter. There is also a two car garage and parking space for up to nine cars. When the house was first put up for sale, its asking price was $4.995 million, but later reduced to $1.55 million in 2008. But, after two price chops to a final asking of $3.995 million, the house sold this week for a final sale price of $4,004,852. We bet they're going to sit back and relax with a good book in their new pad...perhaps, The Sun Also Rises?
