Woodsy Retreat from ‘The Bodyguard’ Wants $8 Million

The setting of the 1992 action movie The Bodyguard—starring songstress Whitney Houston and Academy Award-winner Kevin Costner—this massive mountain lodge officially known as “Tallac House” just hit the market with a $7.995 million price tag.

The film centers around Frank (Costner), who is hired to protect pop singer Rachel (played by Houston). When trouble follows the superstar all the way home, compromising her grand Beverly Hills abode (which also happens to be on the market, now listed at $135 million), the bodyguard takes his charge and her family to hide out in a remote house in the woods. In real life, the rustic digs—sited on nearly three acres on Fallen Leaf Lake in South Lake Tahoe, California—appears far more put-together than it does on screen.

Features of the famed residence include a stone-clad fireplace (where the family warms up and watches Frank and Herb play checkers); open shelves in the kitchen (where Frank’s dad prepares dinner); and a roomy corner master suite on top of three bunk rooms on the second floor. Every room showcases views of Tallac Mountain and the surrounding landscape.
