English advertising consultant Cindy Gallop has put her Black Apartment on the market for $5.995 million.

The splendid 3,800-square-foot loft is tucked in a re-purposed 1904 YMCA building in New York, in what used to be a men’s locker room. Designed by Stefan Boublil, the opulent pad was inspired by the dark and sultry atmosphere of its owner’s favorite Shanghai bar.

Dressed in shades of black accented with plush velvet hues, the warmly lit home boasts three bedrooms and three baths. Though the master suite has no walls, a stylish drape system allows the area to be cordoned off, providing ample privacy.  Salted with a slew of oddities and extraordinary artwork, the home is without a doubt one of the most unique residences in the city.

The lavish locale is also a bonafide media star; it has been used as a set in the “Law & Order” TV series and as a backdrop in Notorious B.I.G.’s music video “Nasty Girl,” and has been sought after by “HGTV,” “Dwell” and “New York Magazine.”
