Editor’s Note: Katie McCaffrey, the principal of Angus-McCaffrey has spent the past two decades designing beautiful homes, wineries and offices throughout the Bay Area.  McCaffrey has based her design firm on the legacy of Martha Angus, Inc with whom she worked as Design Director for 12+ years. We caught up with the renowned designer who gives us an insight into her latest project situated in the heart of San Francisco.

With an updated backdrop, this classic Sea Cliff, San Francisco home has a soft neutral palette that is punctuated by colorful accents.  The client wanted the house to feel alive and energetic, so a color play on the elements and surrounding views felt like the natural choice.
Playing off the water, McCaffrey chose vibrant hues greens and saturated blues.  Combining bright colors with the jute rug from Stark and reclaimed oak coffee table from RH, it brings a beachy feel to an otherwise formal space.  The blue fabric covering vintage chairs by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli reflects the water from the ocean views the homes in this neighborhood are known for.
While the rest of the home is full of surprising delights of color, the Master was purposefully chosen to be a quiet sanctuary.  The natural beauty of the coast is still reflected in this serene palette of soft natural hues with a custom headboard that harmonizes and softens the Nobilis wallpaper.
