Retired radio legend and host of the “The Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Tom Joyner himself, sold his iconic beachfront Miami villa for $19 million. Located in the gated Golden Beach community on a 4-block stretch of private sand, the home falls nothing short of incredible. With over 7,300 square feet of living space, the home scales three levels along with three bedrooms and three and a half baths.

After five years and $7.5 million, the home underwent a complete renovation when he purchased it back in 2015, the space was reimagined and turned into a masterpiece by an elite design team including designer Deborah Wecselman of Wecselman Design, architect Wesley Kean of KoDA, contractor Larqcon Group, and landscape architecture firm Enea.

The home takes full advantage of coastal living featuring a seaside swimming pool with spacious verandas, an aesthetic summer kitchen, beachside louvered cabanas, ocean-front living lounges, ocean views from nearly every room - a goal of Mr. Joyner’s during the renovation, and of course, direct access to the property’s very own private beach, right in the backyard.

Upon entrance into the villa, you may question if you’re in the right place. The foyer doubles as an Art Gallery. Amongst the architecturally pleasing, wrap-around staircase, one will find pieces from Picasso, Robert Pruitt, Allora & Calzadilla, and Ernie Barnes, as well as a custom Bocci pendant light that hangs from the ceiling.

The lower level features a professional gym with a boxing ring and fire engine red linoleum flooring. The downstairs doubles as a garage, perfect for a fitness fanatic or car aficionado.

Taking up the entire third floor, is the master suite including the master bathroom with a gorgeous glass encased RiFRA tub in the center of the room and bright red urinal in the shape of The Rolling Stones lips logo, as well as an expansive closet with shelves made from dark wood where Mr. Joyner’s shoe collection and custom designed clothing had once lived.

As the only private community with homes on the sand in South Florida, Golden Beach is the place to be. The ultra-exclusive gated community has its own private beach with pavilion and beachside service, tennis courts, a basketball court, multiple parks, and playgrounds, and it even has its own police force.
