MG Developer proudly announces its significant role in the prestigious 'Under the Cherry Blossom Sky' Gala organized by the Coral Gables Community Foundation. The event, held on October 13, 2023, at The Loews Coral Gables Hotel, was a night of Japanese culture, philanthropy, and celebration, highlighting the Coral Gables community's finest. MG Developer not only served as a legacy sponsor for this extraordinary gala but also had the honor of presenting the Landmark Award to the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum.

The evening transported guests to Ancient Kyoto, offering an authentic Japanese culinary experience. Loews Executive Chef Ricardo Jarquin crafted a three-course meal, including Bluefin Tuna Tataki, Kyoto Short Rib, and a Matcha Mango Passion Petit Gateaux dessert. Throughout the night, guests enjoyed a variety of performances, from traditional drummers and dancers to karaoke and auctions.

The Coral Gables Community Foundation recognized six remarkable individuals and one outstanding local institution for their dedication to various causes, making the Coral Gables community a better place for all residents, workers, and visitors. MG Developer had the privilege of presenting the Landmark Award to the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum, showcasing their commitment to supporting cultural and artistic endeavors.

"We are truly honored to present the Landmark Award to the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum at the 'Under the Cherry Blossom Sky' Gala. We remain committed to serving and supporting the arts and culture in Coral Gables,” said Alirio Torrealba, CEO and Founder of MG Developer. “We're proud to share this special moment with exceptional individuals who contribute to the vibrancy of this community. The Coral Gables Community Foundation plays a vital role in making our city even more extraordinary, and we're very proud to be a part of it."

The event received substantial support from various sponsors, including Trish and Dan Bell, Baptist Health, MG Developer and The Village at Coral Gables, Anthony R. Abraham Foundation, Ray Corral & Alina Meledina, Bacardi, Knight Foundation, UM Miller School of Medicine, UHealth Jackson Urgent Care, Hindman Auctions, Bermont Gold Wealth Advisory, Coral Gables Magazine, Miami Herald, WLRN, Miami's Community Newspapers, and the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami.

Donations and sponsorships for “Under the Cherry Blossom Sky” topped last year’s “Road to Rio” gala, raising more than $500k for the Coral Gables-based philanthropic nonprofit led by President & CEO Mary Snow that inspires impactful philanthropy through charitable funds. This year, the Community Foundation awarded more than $400k in scholarships to graduating high school students and more than $286k in grants to local non-profit organizations. With the success of this gala, the Board is likely to increase grants and awards again in 2024.

“This was a pivotal year for the Community Foundation. We awarded more scholarships and more grants than ever in our history. The gala is our most important fundraiser and helps make this all possible,” said Mary Snow, CEO of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. “Philanthropy is the bedrock of our Community Foundation, and the support of our sponsors and donors provides us with the means to make a positive impact on the community,” she added.
