Can you tell us a little about the history of Ocean Reef and how it came to be?
Ocean Reef Club was founded as a private club community in 1945, with membership by invitation only. Today, I am proud to say that Forbes Magazine reported that Ocean Reef has been honored by Platinum Clubs of the World (2018-19) not only as the #2 Country Club in the US, but also the #12 Club in the world. I have been a member of Ocean Reef for over thirty-five years. My daughters, Anna and Katie attended The Academy, and both chose to be married at Ocean Reef.
Located at the tip of Key Largo, Ocean Reef is approximately 55 miles southeast of Miami International Airport. Our 2,500 lush tropical acres are bordered on three sides by water. The club can be reached by land, by sea in our 175-slip marina, and even by sky via our private airport.
How has Ocean Reef changed in the last 5 years?
Responding to an increase in member requests for an upscale, turn-key, low maintenance lifestyle, two new premium condominium development have been introduced to our marketplace. 121 Marina was completed last year and The Residence Club just broke ground. Both are dedicated to offering extraordinary levels of concierge services.
What are buyers expecting from developers in Ocean Reef luxury development? Certain amenities?
Amenities abound at Ocean Reef in an environment of unpretentious luxury. In the Residence Club for example, which is located adjacent to one of two Ocean Reef championship golf courses, the entire idea is to anticipate and accommodate your every need and treat you like royalty. What advice do you have for anyone who’s looking to invest in a property in Ocean Reef?
Whenever there was a need or even a wish for a new club amenity it was the members who made it all possible. The Medical Center, the Fitness Center, the Art League, the K-8 Academy, the Cooking School and much more are examples of member-inspired amenities.
