Haute Residence: Has Manhattan Beach real estate seen its usual activity to the start of a year so far in 2021 or different?
Cindy Shearin: The market here has remained very healthy and continues to maintain low inventory. This time of year, we typically see many buyers looking for primary residences as well as 2nd or 3rd homes before the start of summer. Our projections show that we will continue to have a lot of activity due to the low inventory, the number of buyers that are serious to purchase and the low interest rates which have definitely spurred the luxury real estate market. The market time for most homes is under 30 days. We continue to see multiple offers on the entry-level product. Buyers for this product are entry-level buyers as well as investors from around the world.
HR: For those that live in the city and own a second home in Manhattan Beach, do you see people still renting these or inhabiting them lately?
CS: We see both scenarios. The South Bay area continues to be a highly desired escape from the larger city. There are more and more purchasers working from home. These buyers are purchasing secondary properties and escaping to a more relaxed seaside location. There are some owners and purchasers who desire to mix up the staycation ownership and leasing the home during special times of the year.
HR: What makes Manhattan Beach stand out from other beachfront communities?
CS: Manhattan Beach is well known as one of the best cities in the US to live in. Not only is our town known for its gorgeous beaches and quaint downtown shopping village, but we have a vast number of excellent restaurants with famous chefs and a fun bar & nightlife scene. For families, our top-rated schools, a plethora of parks, and sports programs make Manhattan Beach a perfect fit for growing families.
For business professionals and young adults, the proximity to LAX, downtown LA, Beverly Hills and the westside make the location ideal for commuting and enjoy the city-life LA has to offer.
