Downtown Sarasota is a rare gem… our Gulf Coast city is a bustling hub with cosmopolitan amenities and the walkable appeal of urban living but without the hassle of hard-to-find parking or the mess that’s found in some sizeable cities. Plus, our cost of living relative to cities with similar amenities is extremely favorable. Downtown Sarasota’s exquisite placement on Sarasota Bay showcases dazzling vistas from many of our luxury high-rise buildings and offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy waterfront walks, dining, and entertainment. Everything is within walking distance and there’s a free trolley for even easier access around town and across the Ringling Bridge to Lido Key and St. Armands Circle.

There’s been a lot of change to Sarasota’s cityscape over the years, and there’s a lot of change underway that involves both new residential buildings and new commercial development. As one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., we’re in a positive cycle of population growth that encourages new home construction which in turn attracts even more residents who then purchase homes and patronize local businesses, adding even more energy to our local economy and social scene. You can literally feel the momentum! In addition to the numerous new construction projects that are adding to Downtown’s luxury condo options, there is considerable growth from the city’s businesses and cultural enterprises. Restaurants and shops are benefiting from the increased number of people living Downtown both year-round and seasonally, and there are more and more options all of the time. One of my favorite spots, State Street, is so famous for its elevated cuisine and creative mixed drinks that it is opening a companion concept soon to offer another chic setting for an evening out. We’re seeing the same thing with casual eateries too, like Molly’s Pub and Evie’s and a lot of new spots that are newly opened for everything from easy after-work drinks to street festivals. There’s an incredible amount of energy in our arts and cultural organizations, with robust calendars that offer world-class entertainment to residents, many of whom have relocated from other big cities with impressive artistic offerings. There’s something Downtown (or within walking distance) for everyone to enjoy, from Urbanite black box theatre and the renowned Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe to opera and ballet. As a former professional ballerina, I especially love the arts scene in Sarasota and the incredible (free!) performances that happen at The Bay Park, where the entire community can gather to enjoy both our scenic waterfront and our world-class arts.

Downtown Sarasota really is an incredible blend of walkability, scenic and clean streets lined with palm trees, and sidewalk seating for great restaurants, boutique and major brand shopping, art galleries, and much more. Explore our cosmopolitan core in one of my latest videos, where I get the inside scoop from some of Sarasota’s most distinguished and long-time leaders.
