Joel Goodrich’s Real Estate Journey Led Him to the Top of the San Francisco Real Estate Market

One of the San Francisco Bay Area’s most prominent luxury real estate agents over the past 25 years with over $1,200,000,000 in sales, Joel Goodrich works closely with clients in the sale and purchase of prominent estates, penthouses, and investment properties. Here, he speaks with Haute Residence about why he chose real estate and what makes San Francisco unique.

Why did you choose real estate?

My passion for architecture and design is what originally drew me into real estate. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to sell several architecturally iconic properties, including some featured in Architectural Digest, Mansion Global, BRAVO TV, and many other media outlets. My own personal residence, a penthouse in a Pre-War building on Nob Hill, has been published twice and featured in several fashion and lifestyle photo shoots. I think my understanding of architecture and design has been a big help in marketing and selling our listings.

What was your journey to where you are today?

I started off selling $100,000 condos in 1992. If someone told me at the time that at one point I would have a $65,000,000 listing and represent the buyers on the Kim Kardashian and Sharon Stone Estates, amongst others, I would not have believed it, but it all happened-it's been quite a journey!

What makes your market unique?

San Francisco has an incredibly diverse array of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct character, and is probably one of the more European of the American cities. It also has some of the most distinctive architecture anywhere- from the famous Pained Lay Victorians of Alamo Square to the grand Beaux Arts-style mansions of Pacific Heights to the incredible Parisian-style buildings on Nob Hill. We are also a major business destination for national and international buyers as we remain the tech and AI capital of the world, with more venture funding, by far, than any other area.
