HLRN’s Joyce Rey Attends the Annual UNICEF Meeting in New York

Last week I traveled to New York for an annual UNICEF meeting. Being a part of UNICEF is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling opportunities I have had. The work and dedication by everyone involved in UNICEF is tireless and impactful for children all over the world. The meeting focused on the progress of UNICEF over the last year with many inspiring speakers.

Lucy Liu was the special guest speaker at the lunch and other speakers included Yoka Brandt, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF; As Sy, UNICEF’s Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Africa; Ted Chaiban, UNICEF’s Director of Emergency Programs; and Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn’s son.

Over 300 UNICEF supporters gathered for this annual event to review UNICEF’s accomplishments over the past year and celebrate the involvement and support of the American public in UNICEF’s life-saving programs for the world’s most vulnerable children.
