Haute Residence Network Presents 9 Questions with Carrie Nicholson

Carrie Nicholson, Principal Broker of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, speaks with Allen Bendahan at Haute Living about her journey as a luxury real estate leader. With over 25 years of real estate experience, Carrie is recognized as one of Hawaii’s top-producing agents, specializing in the island’s most exclusive properties. Having built her business on relationships, she embodies the values of honesty, integrity, and trust. Carrie’s unparalleled knowledge of Big Island luxury properties and her extensive international network have resulted in nearly $2 billion in residential and land salesthroughout her career. The following are some of the highlights of their conversation:

Allen Bendahan: You’ve been a leader in Hawai‘i’s luxury real estate market for over 25 years. What first inspired you to pursue a career in real estate on the Big Island?

Carrie Nicholson: Born and raised here in Hawaii, I’ve always had an appreciation for the Hawaiian lifestyle and everything that Hawaii has to offer. At a very young age, I started investing and learning all about real estate. Both of my parents were very hardworking – my father is a retired engineer, and he taught me everything he knew about real estate and real estate investments when I was a teenager. Since then, I’ve invested in different places and learned a lot about what that means. Over the years, I’ve witnessed tremendous transformation throughout Hawaii. I’ve lived a bit on all the islands, but the Big Island has always been one of my favorites.

Allen Bendahan: As Principal Broker and Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Kohanaiki Realty, what makes this community unique in Hawai‘i’s luxury market?

Carrie Nicholson: Well, Kohanaiki is about 450 acres and sits right along the ocean in Kailua-Kona, on the Kona Coast. If you go anywhere along this coastline, you’ll see some of the most beautiful ocean scenery and activity – that’s one of the things Kohanaiki is best known for: its stunning ocean and beach life. We also have an 18-hole Rees Jones-designed golf course, which is part of what makes Kohanaiki such an incredible private golf and ocean club community. The clubhouse itself is about 70,000 square feet — one of the largest private club facilities in Hawaii. It offers a wide range of amenities, including a restaurant, fitness center, spa, bowling alley, wine-tasting room, private dining room, and even a movie theater. One of the most unique features is our on-site microbrewery – we’re one of the only private clubs in Hawaii with our own. All of these elements together make Kohanaiki truly stand apart, creating a community that’s both luxurious and uniquely Hawaiian.
