We’ve heard about plenty of political controversy surrounding the Sochi winter Olympics. Though the company behind this magnificent arena may be at the center of price inflation suspicions and tout substantial political ties, let’s instead look at the incredible design of the Bolshoy Ice Dome.
This egg-like arena offers 12,000 seats and will host the games’ ice hockey events. It sits just 300 meters from the water’s edge, offering visitors amazing views of the black sea.
According to DesignBoom, the structure is covered in aluminum paneling and contains millions of LED’s, allowing for its vibrant display in the evening. Inside, seats transition from deep red to light grey. The area also offers a media center, training facilities for Olympians and more.
