Decluttering Tips for the New Year

The New Year is all about a fresh start, so what better time to declutter your life and implement new organizational tips? Fortunately, even if you’re not an organization-guru, you can use these smart strategies from professional organizers, as shared by Real Simple, to create the year you seek.

For instance, Melissa Picheny of Declutter + Design in New York City advises using a compartment divider on bed side tables to make sure they’re organized and not cluttered.

Benita Larson shares a similar mindset—she likes organizing drawers in compartments, but also recommends organizing them by content as well (e.g. an “all candles” drawer, an “all batteries” drawer, etc) so you can find more obscure items when you need them.

Kate S. Brown makes her clients’ paperwork more easily accessible by literally making it mobile.
