The home of Theodor Seuss Geisel, famously known as Dr. Seuss, is now on the market. He is well-known for writing children's stories, especially ones such as Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Green Eggs and Ham. Although Dr. Seuss passed away in 1991, his home was left to his late wife, Audrey Stone Diamond.
In 2019, the Geisel Trust gifted the home to the University of California San Diego when Audrey too passed away back in 2018 and the university has held onto the property until now. The funds from the sale of the home will go to the Geisel Fund of the University of California San Diego Foundation, which will be used for various projects around campus.
Even though the property originally comprised a 5,000-square-foot home and 4 acres of land, the property has now been broken down into 4 different parcels. One contains the mansion and 1.5 acres, while the other three are divided up.
One can purchase all four parcels for $18,995,000, or the parcel with the home for $11,995,000. The other four parcels start at $4 million. The home resides in La Jolla, California and this is the first time it has been on the market in about 75 years.

The house itself is unique, with rooms hidden behind bookshelves, the Cat in the Hat etched onto the front door glass, three bedrooms, a pool, and a spa. It also has gorgeous views of the ocean, mountains, and coastline, all from the home.
With this being such a one-of-a-kind property, any interested buyers had until August 17th to submit their bids and all purchases have to be cash only.
