This Futuristic Skyscraper Concept Hopes to End Extinction

Designed by Qidan Chen, this futuristic skyscraper concept—known as the “Tower of Refuge”—would house facilities for the artificial creation of animals and plants, and act as a safe haven for critically endangered or vulnerable fauna and flora in order to combat the rapid extinction of species resulting from global deforestation and rising sea levels.

The Tower would be a self-operating machine armed with the ability to balance environmental conditions, offering optimal levels of sunlight, air, and water. Simply put, it would acquire and filter water and air, redirect sunlight, and utilize solar energy to generate electricity.
