World’s Most Expensive Office Space Listed For $49.9 Million

Hedge fund Zimmer Lucas Capital is selling the historical Beaux-Arts limestone mansion-turned-office in midtown that was once home to the former co-founder of Lehman Brothers, Philip Lehman. Located at 7 West 54th Street, the property is currently being listed for $49.9 million, making it the world’s most expensive office space.

The five-story townhouse erected in 1899 by architect John H. Duncan was initially listed for $65 million in May, but recently dropped by $15 million. Still, at over $3,000 per square foot, the price blows away the current Manhattan record for office space, which is $1,600 per square foot.

The property was initially constructed to house Lehman’s massive art collection and was renovated into a luxurious home office (with a glass penthouse) in 2006.
