Haute Estate: Jason Reitman Sells Beverly Hills Home for $1.475 Million

Jason Reitman, the Hollywood director behind hit movies such as “Young Adult,” “Juno,” “Thank you for Smoking,” and “Up in the Air,” has just sold his Beverly Hills home for $1.475 million.

The single-story Beverly Hills mansion features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a media and family room, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, an enclosed swimming pool and walls of glass. Characterized as a “redone contemporary home,” the estate was originally built in 1962 and is 2,459 square feet.

The home is located in the hills adjacent to the Franklin Canyon portion of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

Oscar-nominated Reitman, 34, purchased the home in 2003 for $1.171 million and placed the home on the market this past April for just over $1.5 million. Sotheby’s International Realty handled the listing.

Reitman, who was born in Montreal, Quebec, holds dual citizenship from Canada and the United States and along with directing he also is a screenwriter and producer. “Thank You for Smoking” was Reitman’s first feature film after he developed the Christopher Buckley novel into a screenplay and eventually, a film. It was an instant commercial and critical success grossing over $39 million worldwide by the end of its run. It was subsequently nominated for two Golden Globes.
