An auction that is scheduled to take place on September 18 in California may be the setting of a record-breaking sale. A California mansion will be auctioned off and is expected to go on the block with a starting bit of $22 million.

The Malibu mansion is a 10,500 square-foot beachside home that includes six bedrooms, nine and a half bathrooms, a private theater, a 75-foot two-lane lap pool, a state of the art gym and a library fitted with an aquarium. The house was originally listed for $65 million.

The lucky bidder will be moving into a neighborhood filled with A-list celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Barbra Streisand and Sting. The area of Malibu where the mansion is located is known as Billionaire Beach and is ideal for those who want beachfront property with a little privacy. In Malibu, beaches have public access by law, according to Carol Bird of Westside Estate Agency, however, the home is located 1,000 feet from any public access point so for those seeking refuge, this is a prime location.

The home will officially be put up for auction on September 18, however if the right offer comes along before that time, the house could be sold in advance.
