Price Cuts on East 52nd Street
By Allison Medoff

Picture a castle in Italy with a 66-foot dining room view over the East River and an astounding panorama of New York City. This is the residence of Francesco Galesi, former WorldCom director, who has been trying to sell his River House duplex on East 52nd Street for five years. His original asking price was $50 million, but now prospective buyers can take advantage of a $15 million price cut.
The abode features eight bedrooms, including two reserved for residential staff. The master bedroom is larger than both the housekeepers’ rooms combined. A study and sitting room are on the upper level, and the library features its own study as well. Fifty windows offer plenty of light and majestic city views. Listed at $35 million, it isn’t the only duplex in the building that isn’t changing owners. Producer Marty Richards almost sold his place for $22.7 million in 2008, when the co-op board, known for its high-standards, denied the deal. Currently at $18.9 million, which home will go first, or at all?
