With a big assist from Wall Street-based brokerage firm Platinum Properties, the triplex penthouse apartment in the South Tower at The Continuum, which served as the backdrop in the 2005 DreamWorks film Red Eye and was recently featured on Extra’s “Mansions & Millionaires” Miami special, has just sold for $9.9 million.  The tri-level home, which is located in the exclusive 12-acre, oceanfront gated condominium development on the southernmost tip of Miami Beach, had been on the market since 2007, but took just 48 hours to close after the buyer was referred by Khashy Eyn and Philip Askeroth of Platinum.

According to Mr. Eyn, Platinum’s CEO and President who participated in the successful negotiation and sale of the unit, the penthouse spans across the 40th through 42nd floors of the building and offers approximately 7,400 square feet of living space.  It not only boasts five bedrooms and seven-and-a-half baths with spectacular panoramic vistas of South Beach, the Atlantic Ocean, Fisher Island and Downtown Miami, but also comes with the latest technological advances, including a state-of-the-art surround sound system and smart house touch panels that control everything from audio and video to lighting and Lutron motorized shades and in-home security.

“Platinum’s participation in this sale is a great accomplishment for our firm, which in addition to its continued success in Manhattan’s Financial District, has emerged as a key player in high-end residential units throughout New York City and overseas, and now Miami,” said Eyn.  “Our buyer was looking for an exclusive apartment at a luxurious destination along the water, and we are proud to have helped him find his dream residence atop The Continuum – a home he was so excited about, he actually closed and relocated in just a matter of days.”

In addition to offering a one-of-a-kind mansion in the sky with 360-degree views of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, the triplex penthouse boasts 26’ high floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and more than 6,000 square feet of outdoor terraces.  The home is finished with Italian marble travertine flooring throughout; a gourmet windowed kitchen with granite countertops, three Sub-Zero refrigerators and two wine chillers; an additional kitchenette on the 41st floor adjacent to a private rooftop pool with outdoor theater system; laundry room; private storage and reserved parking downstairs; an in-home elevator; and four plasma TVs including one in the master bath.  Platinum, which will begin offering interior design services through its New York office, will also handle the redesign of the apartment’s interiors.

Says Glenn E. Goldberg, Esq. of the Goldberg Law Group, P.A., who represented Platinum Properties in this transaction, “In my 16-plus years of practicing real estate law in New York City and Florida, I have never been involved in, nor ever heard of, a more professional and expeditious real estate transaction.”
